Instructional Systems Designer
DESCRIPTION :
The Instructional Systems Designer (ISD) works as part of a project team to develop and create online and/or classroom courses and related products. The ISD is responsible for collaborating with clients and other team members to plan and develop distance learning courses and supporting resources. Course products may include any combination of online instruction or study guide, instructor guide, a student text or workbook, and/or supporting video or animation clips delivered through appropriate media.
The ISD must have excellent written and oral communication skills. She/he must be able to manage multiple tasks effectively. She/he must conduct work in a professional and respectful manner and be able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
The ID must be able to analyze manuscripts, multiple media, and software and thoughtfully articulate how to improve these. The ID should be able to work successfully with subject matter experts (SMEs) to obtain content for development into an online or classroom course. The ID must be able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize tasks optimally, and take initiative with all projects. She/he must be able to complete work with minimal supervision from his/her supervisor, analyze each course's needs, and participate in problem-solving with other staff. The ID must have highly developed computer literacy and be able to operate basic office equipment. She/he should be able to sit for long periods of time.
POSITION DUTIES :
-Responsible for the development of course outlines, content and video storyboards, and performing user testing on e-Learning courses to be delivered via the Web.
-Participate in various course creation/development tasks from design through deployment
-Contribute to the creative design of interactive learning exercises
-Facilitate necessary updates/changes to existing courses and media
-Other tasks and special projects as needed
POSITION REQUIREMENTS :
-BA Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Instructional Technology, Adult Education or related discipline.
-2+ years instructional design experience in a business setting.
-Proven project management skills
-Excellent written and oral communication skills
-Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
-Ability to work effectively in teams as well as independently
-High attention to detail; very conscientious
-Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint
